- By Air: The fastest way to reach Gilgit is by taking a domestic flight from Islamabad International Airport to Gilgit Airport. The flight duration is approximately one hour. However, flight schedules can be subject to weather conditions and availability.
- By Road: An alternative option is to travel by road. Regular bus services and private cars are available for the approximately 600-kilometre (370-mile) journey from Islamabad to Gilgit. The journey by road takes around 14-16 hours, depending on road conditions and traffic.
Step 2.
- Gilgit to Raikot Bridge: From Gilgit, you will need to travel to the village of Raikot, which serves as the starting point for the trek to Fairy Meadows. If you want to experience the best ever ride on a bike or in a car (Bike travellers especially), you must take a road to Murree which is around 60 km via express highway, and take a maximum of 2 hours to reach Murree. After reaching Murree, take a road to Muzaffarabad AJK. It takes a maximum of 4 hours to reach. After reaching Muzaffarabad, Take a road to Ghari Habibullah that will connect to the Balakot. This road is full of beauty and has landscaping views to enjoy.
From Balakot, start heading toward Naran-Kaghan raod. I would suggest you to the hotel at Batakundi, right after the Naran- Kaghan. A detailed article on batakundi will also be published soon. Next day, start your journey from Batakundi to Raikot Bridge, park your bike or car, and take a jeep from Raikot Bridge to Tatu village.
After reaching Tatu Village, you have to start hiking toward fairy meadows and it will take 3-4 hours to reach fairy meadows.
